Home Modifications: Free Solutions for Low-Income People with Disabilities

Learn about how home modifications, from small to large, can not only keep disabled seniors in their homes longer, but create a safer, more independent living space, improving physical and mental health. Walk through the process of applying for these no-cost modifications with ReFIT, a non-profit in the Portland tri-county area - from application to project fulfillment. Discuss options that include installing wheelchair ramps, bathroom grab bars, ADA-compliant sinks and toilets, roll-in showers, widening doorways, and more. A solution for anyone struggling with mobility limitations that are harming quality of life due to barriers in the home.

Presenter:

Lupine DeSnyder is a non-profit professional with over 25 years of experience in volunteer program management, community engagement, fundraising and senior services in private, non-profit and government settings. Her recent work with Community for Positive Aging, HomeShare Oregon and, now, ReFIT, represents her investment in supporting aging with choice, health and dignity.

Intended Audience:

This presentation is appropriate for all who work in the Portland tri-county area with low-income, older adults who have a permanent physical disability and would like to make their homes safer and more accessible.

Why do we ask for a fee?

OGA is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. Events and donations are our main sources of income to fund our educational and networking programs.

Reduced or complementary event registration is one of the great benefits for OGA members! If you like our educational programs - we strive to offer at least one event per month - becoming a member will pay off quickly! To learn more about OGA membership, please visit our Membership page.

No one will be turned away! If you cannot afford $5 at this moment, please contact us at [email protected] - thanks to the generous donations of OGA members and friends throughout the year, we can cover a small number of registrations for each event.

Please note that we offer CEUs only for our annual conference in October, not for our regular events. However, we are happy to issue a Certificate of Attendance upon request for those who attend this webinar for its entire length. To request one, please send us an email after the event.
