Benefits and Programs for Aging Veterans and Their Families in OregonThis presentation will be an opportunity to learn more about the state and federal benefits and programs available to aging veterans and their families in Oregon, and how best to connect Oregon veterans to advocacy and resources to access their earned benefits.
Presenter:Lacey Carter earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Oregon University. She served with the 527th Military Police Company from 2002 to 2005 in Germany and in combat operations in Iraq. Her professional career also includes 10-years as a Deputy Sherriff and Sergeant with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Parole and Probation Division. She currently works for the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs (ODVA) as the Aging Veteran Outreach Specialist working as a USDVA Accredited Representative providing passionate outreach, education, advocacy and benefit claims representation on behalf of aging veterans and their families in Oregon. Intended Audience:This presentation is intended to provide an overview of relevant state and federal veteran benefits for Oregon's aging veterans. The presentation is appropriate for all professionals working with older adults who would like to gain a better understanding of veteran benefits in general and how best to connect veterans to resources in Oregon to access their earned benefits. Why do we ask for a fee? OGA is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. Events and donations are our main sources of income to fund our educational and networking programs. Please note that we offer CEUs only for our annual conference in October, not for our regular events.
