Virtual Death Cafe

This session will begin with a brief overview of the Death Cafe model: what it is, what it is not, and the intentions behind it. The majority of our time together will be spent in an actual Death Cafe having a facilitated conversation about death. Participants are invited to bring forward whatever thoughts, questions, or experiences feel most relevant to them, with time to reflect, listen, and share.

The goal is to create a respectful, confidential environment where people can speak honestly about death and dying, topics that are often avoided in everyday life. Death Cafes are not grief support groups or counseling sessions, and there is no intention to guide participants toward any particular belief, conclusion, or action.

By engaging in open conversation, participants are invited to increase their awareness of death as a natural part of life, with the broader aim of supporting more intentional and meaningful living. The group will be kept small to allow for depth, safety, and genuine connection.

*Please note that this event will not be recorded.

Presenter:

Britta Willson is a gerontologist and Deputy Long-Term Care Ombudsman in Oregon, where she advocates for the rights and well-being of residents in long-term care settings. In addition to her advocacy work, Britta is a holistic sex educator and end-of-life doula and offers support, education, and a grounded, compassionate approach to aging, dying, and living with intention.

Intended Audience:
