Be the Connection: Confronting Loneliness and Isolation in Older Adults

Loneliness is more harmful to your health than smoking 15 cigarettes per day and is estimated to cost the United States $6.7 billion dollars in annual health spending. Older adults are particularly at risk. If community and connection are so integral to well-being, can we make an impact on our community’s health outcomes just by addressing the causes and risk factors of loneliness? Learn the basics about older adult loneliness, isolation, innovative community resources and small steps that turn awareness into action.

About the presenters: Kera Magarill and Jennifer Robbins are Older Adult Behavioral Health Specialists with Washington County Behavioral Health and Disability, Aging and Veteran Services.
