Careers in Aging Week Presentation and Networking Event

Please join us for a presentation in honor of the Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) Careers in Aging Week 2022.  Faber and Sasser will offer an overview of the AGHE national gerontology curricular standards and guidelines, and discuss why we should embrace competency-based gerontological education and professional practice in the field of aging. After the presentation, there will be time for Q&A, as well as break-out sessions for students and professionals to socialize and network.

Intended audience: This session is intended for anyone who is thinking about pursuing higher education in gerontology, current students of gerontology, and individuals working in the field of aging and gerontology. The presentation is useful for understanding the value of pursuing higher education in gerontology, and it is beneficial for professionals for knowing the competencies that students develop. The networking will provide an opportunity for students to connect with one another and to network with professionals currently working in the field.

Presenters:

Mike Faber and Jenny Sasser

Faculty and Co-Chairs, Gerontology Program, Portland Community College
