Careers in Aging Week 2023: Presentation and Networking Event

Please join the Oregon Gerontological Association for a presentation and conversation in honor of the Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) Careers in Aging Week 2023. Melissa Cannon and Jenny Sasser will offer an overview of educational pathways, areas of focus, and career opportunities in the field of aging. After the presentation, we will engage in a discussion facilitated by Yvonne Smith. All students are welcome to join and use this as an opportunity to learn, socialize and network with students and professionals across the region who are interested or engaged in this field. Free for everyone.

Intended audience: This session is intended for anyone who is thinking about pursuing higher education in gerontology, current students of gerontology, and individuals working in the field of aging and gerontology. The presentation is useful for understanding the opportunities and pathways in gerontology, and the networking will provide an opportunity for students to connect with one another and to network with professionals currently working in the field.

Presenters:

Melissa Cannon, PhD, Faculty and Department Head, Gerontology Program, Western Oregon University

Jenny Sasser, PhD, FAGHE, Faculty and Co-Chair, Gerontology Program, Portland Community College

Facilitator:

Yvonne Smith, LCSW, Faculty in Human Services and Gerontology, Clackamas Community College
