Re presentatives of three Portland-area organizations focused on services and advocacy for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) will give an over view of their important work, discuss the challenges the organizations have been facing over the past year, and reflect on adaptations made to their r espective programs to keep older adults safe, healthy, and connected during challenging times. As always, some time will be reserved for attendees to ask questions and share their thoughts.
Intended audience: Anyone interested in learning more about local programs for older As ian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Holden Leung has served as the Chief Executive Officer at the Asian Health and Service Center (AHSC) since 1998. Before this leadership role, Holden had serv ed as a mental health counselor at AHSC since he emigrated from Hong Kong i n 1992. While helping clients to navigate a fragmented healthcare system, H olden integrated his clinical and cultural knowledge and developed an Integ rated and Holistic Service Model of Care, including Culturally Sensitive Co mmunity Engagement; Public Health intervention and Health Care Services wit hin one location. This October, the Center launched a new culturally and li nguistically specific Asian Cancer Resource and Support Center. AHSC has se rved as a Bridge between Asian and American Community to build a harmonious community since 1983. The Center has a strong capacity to serve Chinese, K orean and Vietnamese. Holden holds an MSW degree from the Hong Kong Chinese University.
Manumalo "Mālō" Ala’ilima, Co-Founder & Executive Director, United Territories of Pacific Islander Alliance Portland (UTOPIA
PDX)
Manumalo "Mālō" Ala'ilima identifies as fa'atāne, which means "in the manner of a man" in Samoan, and uses they/them/he/him p ronouns. He is Samoan and of Tongan descent. They also have extensive commu nity organizing and non-profit leadership experience. Malo is a co-founder and first-ever Executive Director of the United Territories of Pacific Islander Alliance Por tland (UTOPIA PDX). UTOPIA PDX provides sacred spaces to strengthen the minds and bodies of QTPIs - Queer and Transgender Pacific Islanders - thro ugh community organizing, political engagement and cultural stewardship. UT OPIA PDX is also the fiscal sponsor of the Oregon Pacific Islander Coalitio n (OPIC), which is a collective of ten statewide Pacific Islander community -based organizations (CBO), two Pacific Islander employee resource groups ( ERG) and some Pacific Islander community members not affiliated with a CBO or ERG. Malo also is the regional lead for Oregon on the National Pacific I slander COVID-19 Task Force and lead of their Data and Research Council. Ma lo was educated at the University of Southern California majoring in Politi cal Science with a Minor in Public Policy and Management and comes to the U TOPIA PDX Executive Director role in April of 2021 after having worked for over fifteen years with the American Red Cross Biomedical Services in sever al functional areas and having lived in different regions. They have a smal l family with their amazing, lovely and supportive partner Elizabeth and th eir brilliant and energetic four-year-old Iily.
Surya Joshi, Program Coordinator, Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO)
Surya Joshi (MA) works as Program Coordinator at Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) in their Workforc e Development Program. Surya has worked with employment and training progra m focused on immigrants, refugees, and low-income individuals for the past 5 years. Surya previously worked with families in IRCO’s wraparound program in the area of family empowerment, child welfare and adult education.
