At the Global Brai n Health Institute, Josh Kornbluth immersed himself in the study of brain d isease and wondered if our society was suffering from political dementia. T he discovery of the “empathy circuit” in the brain might be the cure. Can a neurotic storyteller, who flunked every science class in college, spark a science-based revolution of empathy?

Josh Kornbluth has been doing autobiograp hical monologues for over three decades. He has also written and starred in two feature films, Haiku Tunnel and Love & Taxes, both directed by his brother Jacob Kornbluth. For two years he hosted The Josh Kornbluth Show a t KQED, San Francisco's public television station. For the past several yea rs he has been a Senior Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Bra in Health Institute, based at the University of California, San Francisco, and has been both performing and making videos about brain science and soci al justice, under the title "Citizen Brain" (cit izenbrain.org). Mr. Kornbluth lives in Berkeley with his wife, a retire d schoolteacher; their son recently graduated from UC Santa Cruz, majoring in filmmaking. You can find more information at joshkornbluth.com.
